So what is this cornhole game everyone is talking about?

Cornhole is a fun outdoor lawn game for all ages. In fact, its popularity has caught on so much that now you even find this game indoors! (Gyms, etc.)

Competitors play with 2 boards and 8 bags. Corn hole board sizes differ but are usually 2 feet wide by 4 feet long. Furthermore, they each have a 6-inch hole cut in the center that is 9 inches from the top. Bags feature duck cloth, 14-16 oz weight, and beans, corn or plastic pellets.

Most people play this game as singles or doubles (minimum 4 people for 2 teams, etc.).

To play the bags game, each player or team takes turns tossing the bags at a board opposite them. When a player gets a bag in the hole, they score 3 points. Any bags landing, and remaining, on the board receive 1 point. Play continues until someone reaches 21.

There are many strategies to the game, and with practice, players can achieve repeat “ringers” or “swishes.” Cornhole is easy to learn, and players of all ages love it! (Very young children toss from a line closer to the board). However, cornhole can also be competitive, and there are many leagues and tournaments popping up around the country.

A lot of people/families also have fun ‘tricking out their boards.’ Many boards include fun paint jobs, decals, and of course cornhole light rings and scoreboards. Consequently, this makes the game a lot of fun in other ways too!

Regardless of how competitive you eventually get, this is a great outdoor social game – one that produces a lot of fun and laughter. The portability makes it ideal for family reunions, beach days, camping trips, birthday parties, tailgating events, company outings, church functions, and fundraisers. Today, you will find cornhole at restaurants, schools, parks, community/sporting events, tournaments, holiday picnics and neighborhood backyards!
